$1.36

This morning my parents left to head back to Maryland. After the boys and I dropped them off at the airport we stopped at Goodwill on the way home. I love thrift shopping just never know what treasures will be found. ;o}

Today's treasures were a pair of Levi's for my son for $0.99 and a serving fork for $0.29.
The serving fork is Oneida.
I decided after hosting 2 dinners this holiday break that I need some serving utensils. I have plastic and wooden spoons for serving and they are bulky. Today I scored my first serving fork! Yea me! :o}

Off to the washing machine for the jeans and dishwasher for the fork.

Have you found any good thrift finds lately?

I am on the lookout for a serving tray that I can alter to my hearts desire. Found some this morning but not what I have in my vision so I will keep searching.

Birthday

The love of my life turned 40 this past Sunday, yes the day after Christmas.

We celebrated with my parents, my nephew and his fiance, and the boys and I. It was a nice quiet evening.
Eric doesn't like anything being done for his birthday which makes me sad, but it isn't my day so I really shouldn't complain.
Birthdays were a big deal in my family growing up but I guess if you are lucky enough or not lucky {which ever way you want to look at it} to have a birthday so close to Christmas you may not think too much about your birthday.
Our little one was so excited when his dad blew out the candles.

Happy Birthday honey! I hope you enjoyed your little party and the gifts. XOXO

Baking cont.

I have made a batch of chocolate chip cookies. Here we have some cooling, some waiting to go in the oven, and then there were some baking. :o)

I attempted to make Cake Pops. These seem to be all the rave over the blogs and they were fun to make. I was looking through one of my summer Better Homes and Gardens magazines and saw how simple they were to make.
I made the cake the night before so it was cool enough to handle.
*Dump the cake into a big bowl and crumple it all up.
*Mix in half a can of frosting more or less depending on how you like it.
*Make the cake and frosting mix into balls.
*Put cake balls onto a waxed cookie sheet and insert a stick.
*Spoon the white chocolate onto the cake balls.
Lessons I learned...
I spooned the white chocolate on because when I tried to roll it around they became to heavy and would fall off the stick.
Sprinkle with sprinkles as soon as you put the white chocolate on because once it dries the sprinkles don't stick.

(For the chocolate I used Wilton candy melts.)

Off for more fun in the kitchen today. :o)

The baking has begun!

Oh my goodness so simple! Wish I would have seen these before! I snuck a few while the Kisses were still warm from the oven and...delish!

Made my cake tonight and going to attempt "Cake Pops" tomorrow. :o) So excited!!!

I also made up the dough for the sugar cookies that will be rolled out tomorrow!

My house is going to smell so wonderful!

P.S. My parents arrived today.  Mom and I went out shopping this afternoon, stopped at Bed, Bath, and Beyond to make some purchases.  Of course I had my handful of coupons so I passed some off to her.  She said to me, "these are expired."  I said, "that is OK they will still take them."  She didn't know that you could use them there even if they were expired.  So just a PSA: You can still use your BB&B coupons that are expired.  Just wanted to make sure that you all know that and don't pitch them like my mom did.  Oh and you can use 1 coupon per item as well!!!

This...

picture melts my heart.

When putting up our Christmas decorations Reed was amazed with the stuffed animals that play music but this one really captured his attention. The is a daddy bear reading The Night Before Christmas to his son. The picture is a bit blurry but I love the innocent look on his face as he just stood there eating and listening to the story. I tried to take another picture with the flash but wasn't able to because he didn't want anything to do with his picture being taken. Thankfully I captured this and have this memory to hold onto.

He has since carried the bear to the couch multiple times and listened to the story over and over again.

The bear was given to my boys about 4 years ago when Reed was just a baby from my parents.
