BMX Racing

Today was a new adventure for our family. Eric has racing in his blood so of course our 2 sons do as well. A guy Eric knows loaned us some BMX racing equipment so that Tyler could give it a try. Today our local BMX track had a practice session and we decided to go on out and check it out. It took Tyler a while to warm up to go out onto the track, but once he got comfortable with it you couldn't get him to stop. He didn't like the gate at the top of the hill that starts the race so they just let him go down without it. If he does decide to race then he will have to start behind the gate. I am trying to figure out why he is scared of it so far all I can get out of him is that it is creepy. They actually ran a clinic where everyone worked in a group together to improve skills, so they started at different parts of the track which really helped Tyler find his comfort level. It was fun watching him and I would like to see him continue with this. This does seem to be a family oriented sport as there are dads, sons, and daughters all racing. I didn't see any moms out there racing today but I am sure there are some. The next race is Tuesday night so we will see if Tyler races or if we go out as specators.
