Day 7 of vacation

Well I had intended to post something every day of this vacation and it just did not happen. Here I am at day 7 and only 5 more days left to go.

I am missing my husband terribly and can't wait to get back home to him. He was actually here this past weekend from Thurs.-Sun. He has a cold and is extremely tired with no desire to talk to me which makes me very sad. At this point I can say that I don't think I will go away this long again with out him.

Today when I woke up it was cloudy and dreary looking outside as it had rained the night before. I had intentions of taking the boys to Baugher's to pick either strawberries or cherries. All I wanted was a quart and of course I only wanted to do it for the pictures. I am a scrapbooker at heart. But instead I hung out for a few hours at my parent's house with my boys, showered, called my grandmother, and went and picked her up for lunch. I had intentions of taking her to lunch but she insisted on buying us lunch because she doesn't see us very often and she has no intentions on getting on a plane and coming to visit. My grandmother is 80 years old and is scared to fly. This also makes me sad because I think she would enjoy coming to my house and seeing where I live.

Lunch was great. We went to a place that I used to go with my maternal grandparents and I remember ordering a "Chocolate, Monkey, Poop" as my grandfather would call it. It was called a CMP sundae, which stood for Chocolate, Marshmallow, and Peanut Butter. My grandfather passed away when I was 5 years old but this is one of the fond memories that I have of him. So it was just a nice place to be. The last time I was there was with my husband. We had gotten married and 2 days later we were getting ready to drive to FL where we would be living. This was the last place we ate for breakfast before heading south.

After lunch I needed to find a rechargable battery for my digital camera. So off to the mall to go to Ritz Camera. They did not have the battery I needed and sent us to Battery Warehouse. They had he battery that I needed but with it being a rechargable battery and I am on vacation I don't have a way to recharge it, so I had to purchase disposalbe batteries. I ended up purchasing litichum (sp?) batteries to get me through the rest of this week. Regular batteries only last me about 2 days in the camera and these batteries are supposed to be 7X longer. I hope so because I spent too much money on batteries today.

Next we were off to take my grandmother back home. As we were dropping her off she handed me money to give to the boys to spend on what ever they wanted while we are in Gettysburg the next few days. That was so sweet of her.

Once we got back to my parent's house we had about an hour to kill and of course neither of the boys were interested in naps so they just hung out, had a snack and watched TV.

Jo Ann called and we met her and Levi at Greenmount Bowl to bowl a game of duckpins. Reed is very impatient about waiting for his turn. But the boys had fun with their new experience of duck pins, something we don't have in FL.

We went to dinner at J and P's with mom as dad had stuff to do at the firehouse.

After dinner I took Tyler for ice cream where we met up with Shelley and Emily. I had a great time chatting with Shelley while Tyler played with the kids that were there.

Day 1 of my vacation with the boys

It is the end of day 1 of vacation with my 2 sons. It was a busy day. We got up went to the free movies at the Regal in Westminster and saw Doogal. Not a bad movie, but Reed was not very cooperative. We lost one of Tyler's number cars luckily he was OK with the fact that his brother lost it. We did get the movie worker to turn on the lights and we walked the theater looking for it. We went with Jo Ann and Levi. Tyler wanted popcorn so I went out and purchased 2 kid packs (pop corn, drink, and skittles) and a small popcorn all for a total of $15.50. What a rip off for popcorn. At least the movie was free.

Once we left the movie we had lunch at Pizza Hut. We had a terrible waitress that once she took your order and delivered your food and drinks she was done with us. She served a table right next to us and didn't even make eye contact or ask us if we needed anything. She gave us our check when she delivered the pizza. I had to say excuse me to get her attention so I could have a Diet Pepsi refill. Jo Ann bought lunch which was very nice of her.

After leaving Pizza Hut Jo Ann wanted to show me the house that Tindy and her husband bought so we drove through her neighborhood and found her house. It was a nice looking house from the outside, but it was in a neighborhood where all the houses look the same and it didn't look like there was a decent size yard for playing in. So I wasn't real impressed.

Then we went to Rita's. Rita's is all the rave around here. They serve frozen snacks and drinks. I ordered a Blendzini, which was frozen vanilla custard with Oreos mixed in, very similiar to a Blizzard from DQ, but made with custard instead of ice cream. It was good. If we go back again I will try something different, just because I can. :0) I ordered a frozen chocolate custard for Tyler and he enjoyed it, he didn't even realize it wasn't real ice cream.

Once we got back to my parent's house I was hoping I would be able to carry Reed in the house and he would continue his nap. But wouldn't you know it he woke up and refused to go back to sleep.

I decided to go for a walk up the street and surprise one of my friends that I was in town. We hung out there for a while and the kids played. It was very hot and humid and Granny and Pappy would be home soon from work so we needed to leave.

Once back home the boys played in the basement and I tried to relax, which is nearly impossible when you have a 5 year old and an 2 year old.

We went to Greenmount Station for dinner. Came back home and then Mom and I took Reed and went to the grocery store. Reed was terrible in the grocery store. He promptly went to bed at 8 p.m. after biting my knee.

Tyler just went to bed a little while ago. The house is quiet as everyone is sleeping and I am sitting here for some down time. I am thinking I am hearing people walking in my parents house, but I am sure it is just the sounds from the rain. Although I have said numerous times that I think the man who used to live here comes back for visits. My bedroom was his den for smoking and watching TV.

I wonder what tomorow will bring...another exciting day I am sure. I am to meet some SS people for lunch, I hope that happens as 2 have already cancelled.

Until tomorrow...

Day 5 of Spring Break

Today was day 5 of Spring Break. I have had so much fun spending time with my boys this past week and will miss all the fun when I return back to work next Tuesday. Today we started our day dying Easter eggs, then I took the boys for pictures, then we had lunch at the mall, photo with the Easter Bunny, home for naps, and then off to dinner with a friend and her kids, and finally to a local park. The boys were exhausted and there was no complaining at bedtime. Right now my oldest is sleeping on his top bunk, which he has never done. He fell asleep watching a movie up there. When dh gets home he can move him down to his bottom bunk so I don't have to worry about him falling off tonight as he sleeps, even though there is a guard you just never know.

Blog Challenge-One Word

What is your favorite word?Maybe you just like the way it rolls off your tongue.Maybe it's funny to you for some reason.Perhaps its meaning gives it a place of honor on your word list.Maybe you like it because of the circumstances that surrounded you learning it.

I go through phases of using a word or words. There are words that stick with me and I use them for a long time and then they go away or only pop back up periodically.

My current word that I have used a lot lately is bizarre.

His behavior is so bizarre.

I can't believe she did that it was so bizarre.

I am not a "unique" word person and I don't seek out words to learn and use like others that I know. I am more of a number person.

Blog Challenge-Laugh

This week, write about the last time you had a really good laugh. A belly laugh. A laugh that took your breath away. A laugh that starved you of oxygen and gave you a headache. A laugh where you tossed your head back and really let 'er rip.

Well forunately for me this is something that happened recently.

Last Saturday night was St. Patrick's Day and one of my co-workers threw a St. Patrick's Day party. There are a group of us at work that have been doing things together and we always have a great time when we are together, plus we play Bunco together every month.

Finally everyone had had their corn beef and cabbage dinner so it was time to get dancing, but who can dance to music you don't know. Off to my Suburban I go to get a few CD's I had and others were off to get theirs. The dancing begins and of course many of us already have a few drinks in us so we are giggling and dancing like goofballs. One of my co-workers walks up to me and says do you care if I give your husband a lap dance. I told her to go for. See my husband is sitting in a patio chair watching us looking like goofballs, having a good time of course. I don't care if she does a lap dance for my husband, I know it is all in fun and we were just at her surprise 60th birthday party last month.

Anyway she goes up and does a dance for my husband who sits there with no expression what so ever on his face. When she is done I walk up to him and ask him if he enjoyed his lap dance. His response was I didn't have a dollar. Of course this made us, all within ear shot, crack up. Mr. Dry Sense of Humor is my husband!

I gave him a dollar that was in my pocket just so he could be prepared for the next dance.
