Soccer boys

Soccer season is about to begin here.
For Tyler it will begin next week and will continue on for the next 10 months.

The boys are practicing juggling with the soccer ball. One thing that we learned from Coach Adrian (Tyler's U9 soccer coach) was how important juggling is because it helps the kids with ball control. That is how the beginning of every practice started with Coach Adrian.
Reed was told that he had to juggle the ball twice before he could practice shooting at our backyard goal. He did and was so excited!!!

Reed is super excited about playing soccer again. He played soccer Fall '09 and Spring '10. Then took a break and played t-ball all last year. Eric bought cleats, a soccer ball and shin guards for him this weekend. His soccer cleats are very cool because you can change the color of the Nike swoosh on the outside of the cleat. I will have to try to get a picture of that. Right now he has one yellow and one green. Red is his favorite color and that is why he got a red ball. Soccer for him will not start until the beginning of September, hopefully he doesn't break in his shoes too much that he needs a new pair before then. :0}

Summer Fun

Yesterday we went to a friend's house. The boys swam in their pool, played on their water slide, and devoured cookies and cream cupcakes. Later in the evening I took the boys on a 4.10 mile bike ride around the neighborhood.

Guess who now wants a water slide in their backyard?

Got to love summer time and the endless possibilities of where the day takes you!

I am giddy with excitement!!!

Do you see them???
All 3 of them???

You know as you browse the Target dollar spot (you do, right?) they will sometimes have these seed packets for a dollar.
Well last year I picked one up, a strawberry plant one. I was very hesitant to try it because I bought one in the past, a bigger packet and pot that cost me more than a dollar, and got nothing, but soil! Finally last week I decided the small pot and pack of seeds needed to get off the shelf in my kitchen. So I planted it, crossed my fingers and said a little prayer for these seeds to grow.
Well guess what??? They did!!! And I am giddy with excitement!!!
This picture was actaully taken around 10 p.m. last night because I could not miss this chance to capture these little sprouts.

Now again my fingers are crossed and I am saying a little prayer that they grow and actually grow strawberries!

Once they are about 3 inches tall I will need to transfer them to a bigger pot.

Oh please cross your fingers and say a little prayer that they do, if you feel so inclined! :0)

In...

5 short, err, long (select the one that is appropriate for you) months it will be Christmas Day!!!

(Polar Express Day in kindergarten.)

I have really been thinking that next July 25th I am going to have a Christmas in July party with my friends and their kids. Doesn't that sound like fun!
I envision...
white water balloon fights
Santa hats with bathing suits
candy canes (saved from Dec.)
frozen hot chocolate
hmmm...gotta keep thinking about what else there may be...
maybe we would make cookies???

PhotoBooth

Just discovered a new app on my phone and I can't wait to have more fun with it. It is called PhotoBooth. If you are like me I loved taking pictures in a photo booth with friends.
My cat was the latest victim subject of my phone camera and she really was none too pleased. Can't wait to have some fun with my kids tomorrow!

Created with PhotoBooth for Android.

Loggerhead Marine Life Center

One of my favorite places to visit here in South FL is the Loggerhead Marinelife Center, it is free to get in but a donation of $5.00 is suggested. It is a hospital for sea turtles and their stories of survival are always amazing to me to listen to and read about. This was my first time ever being there when it was feeding time. So cool to watch the turtles eat squid, rock fish, etc. They put the turtles vitamins inside the fish and give them that one first so that they know they got what ever vitamins that they need. The summer camp kids got to feed the turtles and my boys were very jealous.

This guy kept coming up for air and I love that I was able to capture him out of the water.
One of the new additions to the center is this growth chart. So cool to see how my kids measure up to the sea turtles.

They even have the baby sea turtles, but on this trip I didn't get any pictures of them. One of these days I am going to go on a sea turtle walk on the beach.

4th of July Weekend

Yes, I did say weekend. With Monday being the holiday I felt like we celebrated all weekend long and for sure into Monday. :)
Friday we got together with some friends and got our craft on.
We made plaques for the 4th.

We cut out rectangles to make shirts for the 4th. Who wants a store bought 4th of July shirt? ;)

My family all decked out and ready to go to a cookout then onto the fireworks.

It had been a few years since we had last seen our towns actual fireworks show and I have to say I was quite impressed, one of the best I had seen in many years, even Eric agreed.

I hope everyone had a lovely 4th of July weekend like us!
Happy Birthday America!!!
